Classic scary maze game for legendary jump scares

Maze takes the cult “Scary Maze Game” prank and packages it into a straightforward, pressure-filled experience that lives and dies by its jump scare. You guide a tiny red square through narrow corridors, carefully avoiding the walls while suspense quietly builds with each new level.

The premise couldn’t be simpler: complete increasingly tricky mazes without touching the edges. The touch controls are responsive and precise enough for the slow, deliberate movements the game demands. That simplicity works in its favor, making it very easy to hand to an unsuspecting friend and say, “Try to beat this level.” As with the original classic, the payoff is the sudden, loud scare lurking behind the concentration-heavy gameplay.

Visually, Maze is intentionally minimalistic. Flat colors and basic shapes give it an old-school arcade feel, and that stripped-down look keeps your focus firmly on navigating the tight passages. The audio is just as functional, mainly serving to amplify the impact of the jumpscare rather than to provide a rich soundscape.

Where Maze shines is as a party prank or a quick novelty rather than a game you’ll return to for hours of solo play. Once you know what’s coming, the shock value inevitably diminishes, and the lack of variety or progression systems means limited long-term appeal.

It’s also worth noting that this is not suitable for young children or anyone sensitive to horror imagery or sudden loud sounds. Used in the right context, however, Maze is a faithful, lightweight homage to one of the internet’s most infamous jump-scare experiences and still very effective at delivering that heart-stopping moment of surprise.
