Genshin Impact
Epic open world adventure with dazzling elemental combat
Genshin Impact is an ambitious action RPG that brings a fully realized fantasy world to your pocket, and it feels surprisingly close to a console experience. You awaken in Teyvat with a simple goal—find your lost sibling—but that premise quickly expands into a sprawling narrative involving gods, nations, and ancient mysteries.
The standout feature is the massive open world. Teyvat begs to be explored: you can climb almost any surface, glide from cliffs, and swim across rivers, often discovering hidden chests, puzzles, and mini-dungeons along the way. Each region has its own culture, climate, and soundtrack, making exploration consistently rewarding.
Combat is fast, responsive, and built around elemental reactions. You control a party of up to four characters, swapping between them on the fly to combine abilities: freeze enemies with Cryo and shatter them with heavy attacks, or swirl Pyro into a tornado of fire using Anemo. This system adds depth without feeling overwhelming, and boss encounters in particular showcase its potential.
Visually, Genshin Impact is stunning, with an anime-inspired art style, lush environments, and impressive particle effects. The orchestral score and strong voice acting (available in multiple languages) further enhance immersion. Touch controls are generally smooth, and the interface is well adapted, though complex menus can feel busy on smaller screens.
As a free-to-play title, it leans heavily on a gacha system for unlocking new characters and weapons. While you can enjoy the main story without spending money, late-game progression and collecting fan-favorite characters can become grindy. The game is also demanding on storage and battery life.
Despite those caveats, Genshin Impact delivers a deep, content-rich adventure that’s easy to recommend to action RPG and open-world fans alike.
