PS Remote Play
Stream your PS5 and PS4 games anywhere with smooth remote play
PS Remote Play brings your PlayStation library beyond the living room, letting you stream your PS5 or PS4 directly to your phone or tablet with surprising ease. Once connected, your console’s screen is mirrored in real time, complete with sound, party chat, and system menus, so it genuinely feels like you’ve taken your console with you.
The app’s biggest strength is its flexible control options. You can fall back on on-screen buttons for quick sessions, but the experience improves dramatically when you pair a DUALSHOCK 4, DualSense, or even a DualSense Edge on supported systems. The layout is responsive, and shortcuts for the PlayStation button, touchpad, and triggers are well implemented, making even complex games playable on a smaller screen.
Performance largely lives and dies by your connection. On a strong, stable network, streaming is impressively smooth, with minimal input lag and sharp image quality that comfortably handles fast-paced titles. On weaker Wi‑Fi or patchy data, however, you can expect stutters, compression artifacts, and occasional disconnects. It’s also worth keeping an eye on data usage if you’re away from Wi‑Fi, as Remote Play can consume considerably more bandwidth than a typical video stream.
Quality-of-life features round out the package nicely. Using your device’s keyboard for text entry is far quicker than navigating on-console, and built-in voice chat via your device’s microphone means you don’t need extra accessories for party play.
PS Remote Play isn’t a complete replacement for playing directly on your TV, especially for competitive or latency-sensitive games, but as a companion service it’s excellent. For catching up on story-driven titles, grinding in RPGs, or checking in on your console from another room, it’s one of the most useful tools in the PlayStation ecosystem.
