AirGuard keeps unwanted trackers off your trail

AirGuard is a focused security tool designed to alert you when Apple AirTags or other Find My trackers may be following you, giving you a level of protection that is otherwise missing outside the Apple ecosystem. It quietly scans your surroundings via Bluetooth and raises a flag only when it detects suspicious behavior, such as the same tracker appearing near you multiple times in different places.

The interface is straightforward and practical. Potential trackers are listed with clear labels, and you can open a map-style timeline to see where the device appears to have moved with you. Crucially, this path data is stored only on your device, so you gain insight into possible stalking attempts without handing your location history to a remote server.

When AirGuard identifies an AirTag, you can trigger it to play a sound, making it much easier to find a tag slipped into a bag, car, or jacket. This physical feedback, combined with on-screen guidance, turns a worrying alert into a concrete search you can act on.

By design, AirGuard avoids constant nagging. It waits until a device has been seen at least three times in changing locations before notifying you, which helps filter out neighbors’ keys or passing strangers and keeps false alarms relatively low.

There are a few trade-offs. Continuous Bluetooth scanning and background location checks can add some battery overhead, and AirGuard can’t detect trackers that are powered off or heavily modified. You also need to keep Bluetooth enabled for it to work at all.

Overall, AirGuard is an excellent companion for privacy-conscious users, adding a smart, locally processed layer of defense against unwanted tracking on your Android device.
