The interface leans heavily into visuals, with UltraBlur backgrounds, multiple visualizers, and several themes that make even a mundane playlist feel like a curated listening session. It’s stylish without becoming cluttered, and navigation through artists, albums, and mixes is fast and intuitive.

Where Plexamp really shines is audio finesse. Features like true gapless playback, loudness leveling, Sweet Fades, and a configurable preamp make it ideal for continuous listening, especially with albums that were meant to flow seamlessly. The 7-band EQ is simple but effective, and pre-caching keeps tracks playing smoothly even when your connection dips.

The main caveat: Plexamp is only useful if you already run, or are willing to run, a Plex Media Server.
