The core of the game is its driving model. Trucks feel heavy, with convincing inertia when braking, turning or climbing hills. Engine audio is a highlight: each power unit has a throaty, responsive sound that changes under load, making gear changes and acceleration more satisfying. Combined with weather effects and day–night cycles, cruising down a rainy highway can be genuinely immersive.

Progression revolves around buying trucks, expanding your garage and upgrading components such as engine, gearbox, turbo, tyres and battery. These upgrades don’t feel cosmetic; they noticeably affect performance, especially on steep routes or when hauling heavier trailers like tankers or cattle carriers. The visual customization system is also robust, letting you personalize paint and parts so your rig stands out.

A realistic damage and wear system adds some welcome strategy. Collisions deform your truck and repeated long journeys will wear down parts, forcing you to plan maintenance and drive more carefully. It makes every job feel a bit more high‑stakes than a typical casual driving game.

Universal Truck Simulator isn’t perfect. Traffic AI can be inconsistent, the interface feels cluttered on smaller screens, and mission structure can become repetitive over longer sessions. However, regular updates and an active community suggest that more content and polish are on the way.
