Godzilla: Omniverse
Explosive 2D kaiju battles with deep team based combat
Godzilla: Omniverse drops you straight into city-crushing, screen-filling monster brawls, offering an experience that feels both nostalgic and surprisingly tactical. It’s a 2D fighting game focused entirely on giant kaiju combat, and it leans hard into that fantasy.
Matches are built around a simple but satisfying move set: light and heavy attacks, plus crouching and jumping variants that let you pressure opponents from multiple angles. Where the game truly shines is in its special abilities and Fury attacks. Each monster has a unique toolkit and a devastating Fury move that can flip a losing fight in seconds, encouraging you to manage timing and positioning rather than just mash buttons.
The tier system is another clever touch. Not all monsters are equal—some are powerhouses, others are fragile—but the option to form teams of weaker kaiju to take on a single titan adds a strategic layer. Experimenting with team compositions to counter stronger foes gives the game strong replay value.
Stages aren’t just backdrops, either. Buildings and structures act as hazards, crumbling under thrown monsters or collapsing onto them, rewarding players who use the environment to their advantage. It helps every fight feel more dynamic and suitably destructive.
Visually, Godzilla: Omniverse delivers clean 2D art and readable animations that make big clashes easy to follow, even when the screen is packed with effects. Controls are responsive, though newcomers may need a bit of practice to fully exploit each monster’s move set.
It isn’t a hyper-complex competitive fighter, and balance between tiers can occasionally feel rough, but as a kaiju brawler, Godzilla: Omniverse is thrilling, accessible, and packed with fan-pleasing spectacle.
