Harmony® aims to turn your phone or tablet into the ultimate universal remote, and for the most part, it delivers a polished, living-room-friendly experience. Paired with a compatible Harmony Hub-based remote, it lets you merge TV, audio systems, consoles and smart home gadgets into a single control center.

The standout feature is Activities. Instead of juggling separate remotes, you create one-tap scenes like “Watch TV” or “Movie Night” that power on the right devices, set inputs, dim the lights, and close the blinds automatically. It feels genuinely transformative once configured, especially in more complex home theater setups.

Harmony® also extends beyond the sofa. You can check the status of lights, locks or thermostats and adjust them remotely, or schedule devices to turn on and off at specific times or days. Up to 50 favorite channels with custom icons make channel surfing far less painful, and gesture controls for volume or channel changes are intuitive after a short learning period.

The interface is generally clean and logical, though first-time setup can be time-consuming if you own a lot of gear. Harmony’s power comes from its deep device database and flexibility, but that also means a bit of tinkering is required to get every Activity just right. Performance is usually responsive, but occasional delays or lost connections can crop up, particularly on weaker networks.

The biggest limitation is the hardware requirement: without a compatible Harmony Hub-based system, the app is essentially unusable. If you’re already in the Harmony ecosystem, however, this is an essential companion—one that can genuinely replace a coffee table full of remotes and bring your entertainment and smart home under one smooth, unified experience.
