MeowFace is a specialized face-tracking tool designed for VTubers who want more expressive, natural-looking performances without investing in expensive hardware. Instead of full-body tracking or hand gestures, it focuses on what matters most for live avatars: precise facial expression and head movement.

The app sends 42 ARKit-style blendshapes plus head rotation data directly to PC VTuber software, including VSeeFace, Luppet, VMagicMirror and FaceMocap2VMC. In practice, this means it can capture smiles, frowns, eyebrow raises and subtle mouth movements with a level of nuance that goes beyond basic webcam tracking. The tracking quality is especially good in well-lit environments, where lip sync and eye movement feel convincing and responsive.

One of MeowFace’s strongest points is customization. You can tweak individual blendshape weights to fine-tune how your avatar reacts, toning down over-the-top expressions or boosting those that feel too subtle. This level of control is ideal for streamers who want consistent on-model behavior for their character across different shows or moods.

Connectivity is handled via familiar protocols used by iFacialMocap and VTube Studio, making integration relatively straightforward for users already in the VTuber ecosystem. There’s also a video tutorial available, which helps shorten the learning curve.

There are a few caveats. MeowFace is not compatible with devices running Android 13, which is a significant limitation if you’re on a newer system. Performance can also vary depending on your camera quality and network stability.

Despite these drawbacks, MeowFace is a compelling option for VTubers seeking affordable, highly customizable facial tracking that can bring their avatars to life with impressive detail.
