Baltic Maps
Detailed Baltic navigation with rich offline maps and hiking trails
Baltic Maps is a specialized mapping and navigation tool built squarely around Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, and it shows in the level of regional detail it offers. Instead of generic international coverage, you get original raster and vector maps created by Jana seta, backed up by GPS support for accurate positioning.
The free tier already gives you a strong toolkit: you can browse detailed maps of all three Baltic States, drop a marker anywhere to see the nearest address plus WGS or LKS-92 coordinates, and explore intriguing extras like contemporary and historical topographic maps of Latvia. Orthophoto layers for Latvia and Estonia add an aerial-view dimension that’s especially useful for landowners, hikers, and outdoor planners. The ability to share locations and report map errors directly helps keep the data current and trustworthy.
The subscription unlocks the full power of the service. Turn-by-turn voice navigation for drivers and pedestrians (with up to 50 waypoints) turns Baltic Maps into a capable trip planner, whether you’re crossing a city or stringing together a multi-day route. Offline vector maps mean you can rely on it even deep in the countryside or along the Forest Trail and Baltic Coastal Hiking Route. Address and place search across all three countries, cadastre information for Latvia, points of interest, speed cameras, live traffic in Riga and Pieriga, and bookmarkable favourites round out a very complete package for locals and visitors alike.
There are a few caveats: live traffic is limited to the Riga region, and the interface may feel more utilitarian than polished. The yearly subscription model could also deter casual users. Still, for serious navigation and planning in the Baltics, Baltic Maps stands out as a focused, data-rich solution that outperforms many broader, less localized map services in this region.
