ScreenStream
Effortless screen and audio streaming straight to any browser
ScreenStream is a clean, powerful tool for sharing exactly what is happening on your screen in real time, without cables or extra viewer software. Viewers only need a modern browser, making it ideal for quick presentations, remote support, live demos, or teaching sessions.
The app revolves around three streaming modes, each tailored to a different scenario. Global mode uses WebRTC to create an end-to-end encrypted, password-protected stream that can be viewed from anywhere with an internet connection. It can transmit both screen and audio (including microphone and device sounds), which is a huge plus for walkthroughs, tutorials, or gaming sessions with commentary.
Local mode focuses on simplicity: it spins up a lightweight HTTP server on your Wi‑Fi or hotspot and sends the screen as a sequence of JPEG images. It does not use encryption, but you can protect access with a 4‑digit PIN. This mode shines in classrooms, meeting rooms, or any situation where everyone is on the same network and you just want viewers to type an address into their browser and watch.
For advanced users, the RTSP mode lets you push high‑quality H.264, H.265, or AV1 video with multiple audio codecs to your own media server. This is perfect if you already rely on tools like OBS or VLC and want to integrate your device’s screen into an existing streaming or recording workflow.
Performance is generally smooth, though as with any screen streamer, bandwidth and battery usage climb with resolution and number of viewers, especially over mobile data. Still, the open source nature, flexible modes, and browser-based viewing make ScreenStream a highly versatile solution for real-time screen sharing.
