ActiveGPS is a focused utility designed for one task: keeping your GPS sensor awake so location fixes are fast, stable and ready the moment you launch any location‑based tool. Instead of waiting for satellites to lock every time you open navigation or a sports tracker, this app maintains an active GPS session in the background via a foreground service.

The interface is stripped down and practical. You choose between three modes — high, medium, and low — which essentially control how aggressively the GPS is kept alive. High mode targets maximum responsiveness and precision, ideal for turn‑by‑turn navigation, real‑time sports tracking or geocaching. Medium and low modes tone things down and are better suited for casual use or when you want to preserve more battery.

Because the GPS chip no longer goes into a deep sleep, cold start times are drastically reduced. Apps that rely on passive location updates, including many development or testing scenarios, benefit from more frequent and accurate data without extra coding or complex tweaks. The persistent notification clearly shows when the service is running, so you always know when your sensor is being kept active.

There are trade‑offs. Constant GPS activity can noticeably increase battery drain and, on some older devices, may cause the phone to warm up during long sessions. ActiveGPS does not offer advanced automation, such as scheduling or per‑app profiles, so you need to remember to switch modes or stop the service yourself when you no longer need it.
